Welcome to this second volume of Talk of the Grapevine containing another 24 ‘Northern Soul’ tracks selected by John Anderson and the Grapevine team. Once again it feature some all-time favourites (such as Bob Relfs’ classic “Blowing my Mind to Pieces”) alongside lesser-known rarities and several recently discovered tracks – most notably those by veterans Eddie Holman, Jerry Williams and Johnny Moore – which appear on CD for the very first time.
Several of the artists featured here also have their own albums available in the Grapevine catalogue. Johnny Moore’s album Lonely Heart in the City (GVCD3006) was released in June 2003 and documents his career from 1966 to 1972, featuring 25 great Chicago soul tracks. Popular soul harmony group The Masqueraders are represented in the catalogue by their successful Unmasked album (GVCD3013) which was issued in March 2004 and contains the hit single “I Ain’t Got To Love Nobody Else” plus another 25 tracks covering the years 1965 to 1972.- Grapevine
